Yacht School Bosun

Yacht School Bosun

Become: Yacht School Bosun

To become a bosun you will need significant experience on yachts. This can only be gained hands on, so get yourself sailing as much as possible. Start by obtaining your RYA Competent crew qualification then looking to crew on as many varieties of boat as possible.

About: Yacht School Bosun

The fleet bosun ensures the yachts are ready to go at all times. Generally a sailing school or a charter company will employ a bosun to work shoreside. The bosun is there to take responsibility for the following aspects onboard:

• fix any issues that may come up as the result of use • polish the hulls and decks to make sure they look their best for all customers. • maintain the boats, ensure all deck fittings work correctly and are thoroughly cleaned/ greased. • ensure at all times they meet coding requirements (this means the yacht is commercially allowed to sail)

Fleet bosuns often work alone but will be part of a wider team of office staff and crew on the yachts. If you have a passion for yachting and want a self organised job, this could be the one for you.
