You are in the age bracket 17 to 25, hold British nationality and have 180 UCAS points from A Levels, Scottish Highers or equivalent. This role is suited to both school leavers and graduates who are able to make safe decisions quickly and calmly, even under pressure and when required to multi-task. This role is available in both the surface and submarine flotillas. Entry is by competitive selection conducted by the Admiralty Interview Board (AIB). The starting salary for a school leaver of £15268 rises to £24132 on passing out of training at Britannia Royal naval College, Dartmouth. The graduate staring salary is £29006 and the range of acceptable degrees is wide.

This role involves being a decisive leader, tactician, seaman and navigator, handling your vessel safely in all conditions. There are opportunities to specialise as a Mine Clearance Diver Officer, Fighter Controller or Hydrography and Meteorological Officer. The warfare officer career path is the only one which leads to command of a ship, providing of course you demonstrate the right qualities and talents.
