Because of the skilled nature of engineering and mechanical work, an Electrical Supervisor will need a high level qualification, such as a level 3 N/SVQ in Electrical and Electronic Servicing. Experience working as an electrician is also valued.

About: Port - Electrical Supervisor

An Electrical Supervisor oversees the work of the port’s electricians, assistant electricians and apprentice electricians, and ensures their work is done safely and to the requirements of the port and its customers. The activities of an Electrical Supervisor would include the following:

Supervising workshop activity – the Electrical Supervisor is responsible for informing electricians of the work schedule and ensuring they complete their work to time and that the work is thorough and safe. Supervising safety – it is normally the responsibility of the Electrical Supervisor to ensure that the immediate working area is safe to work, and that the electricians are wearing relevant safety equipment and working safely.

Electrical Supervisors will spend the majority of their time on the workshop floor. They will need good communication and leadership skills.
