About: Air Engineering Technician Royal Navy

The Royal Navy (RN) is the oldest of the UK Armed Services and operates world-wide 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. "First and foremost a fighting force, the RN serves alongside allies in conflicts around the world. We also protect Britain's ports, fishing grounds and merchant ships and help tackle international smuggling, terrorism and piracy. Increasingly, we're involved in humanitarian and relief missions, where our skills, discipline and resourcefulness make a real difference to people's lives" (Royal Navy Career Guide Version 3)

Apprenticeships are embedded across the range of skills required for the Royal Navy (RN) to deliver the defence needs of the United Kingdom. One of the UKs largest training organisations, some 3,000 take up an apprenticeship each year and success rates are high. All training is fully funded and externally accredited, ensuring they’ll be recognised and valued by a future employer outside the RN. The Royal Navy believes the variety of engineering roles available to you is unrivalled and the technical knowledge you’ll develop goes far beyond anything you would learn in a civilian apprenticeship.
