About: Ship Charterer

Liaise directly with the ship owner or cargo owner, or indirectly through a ships broker to ensure the ships deliver the cargo on time and in the most cost effective manner. Help match ships with suitable cargoes.

You would be required to: - Function as a point of contact for brokers, shipowners, suppliers and agents - Analyse transport and cargo market - Develop market-oriented offers - Plan a voyage - Calculate the costs involved - Organise clearance and dispatch of ships - Handle ships and cargo-related documents and damage and insurance cases

Typical employers include: - Ship chartering or broking companies - Ship agencies - Major shipping companies that employ in-house charterers
