No formal education is required but the selection process is long. You will need to attend interviews, selection weekends and when admitted you must pass the 32 week Royal Marine Training.

Most Royal Marines Commandos start their career as General Duty Marines, before going on to train for one of the many specialist jobs available. After you’ve earned your green beret, you can pick from a range of 27 specialist jobs available to you. And as you reach a particular rank or you get certain qualifications or experience, even more jobs open to you – from Mountain Leader to Combat Intelligence.

And if you show the right commitment, skills and academic ability, you could become a Commissioned Officer at any time during your career.
